The program Operation Wealth Creation(OWC) has rubbished allegations that it is giving out huge sums of money, that were meant for Covid19 relief, to musicians to Musicians.
The program released a statement yesterday, dismissing allegations by a writer on social media, claiming that Gen. Salim Saleh is giving out the program’s money to artists.
“We have not released any money as OWC, and if we are to carry out any operations requiring resource mobilization and disbursement, we do so within clearly defined process and protocol as spelled out in the Public Finance Management Act,” Maj Kiconco Tabaro, the public relations officer at OWC, said in the statement.
He further explained that meeting the artists is part of the program since its role is to engage several stakeholders in the country on how to rejuvenate from the Covid19 era.
“Gen Saleh has been engaged with different stakeholders and actors from various sectors in the economy. such as stakeholders in the creative and performing arts industry to consult and explore ways in which OWC can be a vehicle for facilitating support and other strategies to help the country deal with the effects of the pandemic on the economy,” he says.
Of recent, Gen. Saleh has been the Jesus of Uganda to artists. Many of them have tried to go to him so that he may bail them out of the poor situation in which they are. It has been the talk in all corners of the country.
