Rt. Hon Jacob Oulanyah pledges partnership to the youth fraternity
In a meeting held between Executives of the National Youth Council (NYC), together with regional youth MPs and the Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Jacob Eyeru the Chairperson National Youth Council presented resolutions of the National Youth Delegates Conference that highlighted key concerns and needs of the youth in Uganda.
Among the highlights were youth inclusion in decision makings, empowering youth leaders at grassroots and building a strong youth centered economy.
While addressing the youth leaders, Rt. Hon Jacob Oulanyah acknowledged the contribution of young people to national development and urged the youth members of parliament to extract critical issues from the resolution of the national youth delegates and evoke such debates in the floor of parliament.
In addition, the speaker of parliament pledged to always partner with the youth fraternity on all occasions to realize a growing youth involvement. He continued to levy his support to the national youth council initiative to plant 60million trees in Uganda by 2025 as a measure to combat climate change.
The idea of the east African youth integration through the YouLead summit in Arusha was also retaliated in the meeting. Youth MPs and representatives are to be supported through attendance of the summit. Oulanyah in the end committed to having more engagement of the young people for a progressive youth agenda.
