Silverbacks finally received funding from the National Council of Sports to go and Participate in the Afrobasket in Kigali Rwanda. National Council of Sports (NCS) has handed Sh340m to FUBA President Nasser Sserunjogi to facilitate Silverbacks campaign for the upcoming 2021 Afrobasket.
After weeks of pleading for funds from the Government, Federation of Uganda Basketball Association has had their prayers answered. National Council of Sports (NCS) has handed Sh340m to FUBA President Nasser Sserunjogi to facilitate Silverbacks campaign for the upcoming 2021 Afrobasket.
NCS General Secretary Bernard Ogwel gave out the funds in a sack to Nasser Sserunjogi on Monday during a briefing at Lugogo. The team flies out on Tuesday for the tournament due August 24 to September 5 in Kigali.
“I thank the leadership of FUBA for having done everything to see that our National basketball team qualifies amidst all the struggles for the tournament in Kigali,” said Ogwel.
“As Government, we have been part of this journey since the first window in November last year and you all saw what happened.
NCS General Secretary Bernard Ogwel thanked the Sports Ministry.
“We want to thank the Government for this timely intervention,” started a calm Sserunjogi who visibly spoke with mixed emotions.
