“My goal is to represent doctors in music,” says Quex’s kachumbali
If a list of hits that drove slay queens mad in the lockdown was made, Quex’s Kachumbali would not miss. On almost all “kukyala” and “kwanjula” including small parties that were made, kachumbali played and made even the bride, groom and guests go down low.
Talking to Faraja Television, Kwesigye George, whose name was shortened to Quex, has been busy with books, learning how to cut human bodies open, using a lifesaving scalpel and putting them back to normal.
He is a pursuing a bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery at Kampala International University, Western Campus and is very much optimistic that when he is done, he will use music to fight for the rights of doctors and surgeons.
“My goal is to uplift doctors countywide, make people appreciate them and through music, I will air out their voices. Doctors do so much magic especially surgeons. Imagine someone cutting your belly wide and putting it back to normal and next day, you walk like nothing happened…,”he said.
He also narrated that COVID19 has lengthened his course and affected his musical career. Though many artistes are running to Gulu through different associations, for relief, he is not interested in any of them.
“COVID19 hit me badly. It was the time when I was raising, and I missed so many gigs because it kept me in doors. Shooting videos too became expensive. I was also supposed to finish my medical course but when it came in, all this came to a standstill. Musician associations in Uganda are so disorganized that I don’t even know which one to join. None of them contacted me despite having one of the biggest hits in the country last year…,”he said.
Quex has many other songs like Lovely woman, Ugandan made, mubitabo featuring Kitanda Micheal, Salubala featuring King Weezy and his recent being Vibe ekutte, which has not yet reached the height of Kachumbali.
