S.1 and S.5 students are to remain home after the selection process.

Students joining S.1 and S.5 will remain home even with the completion of the selection exercise for admissions.

The minister of Education and Sports Hon. Janet Kataha Museveni while releasing the 2020 UACE results on Friday said that the ministry shall provide dates for the selection exercise for the S.1, S.5, and first-year students for tertiary institutions.

Before the covid19 pandemic school leaders and owners would jointly gather to select the top students that applied to their schools as the first choice. The minister stated that the completion of the selection exercise does not mean that the students should report to school.

“We expect the selection process to be completed in between the months of September and October, however, this doesn’t mean the students will report immediately.”

She also added on by saying the date of reopening will be communicated to the public as part of the revised school calendar once a reopening date has been agreed upon by the cabinet.
