Demba Ba retires from football
The 36 year old Demba Ba announced his retirement from football. He scored 184 career goals for both club and his Senegalese national team and won three major career trophies including the Europa league with Chelsea in 2013 and Turkish league trophies with Besiktas and Istanbul Basaksier in 2016-2017 and 2019-2020 seasons respectively.
“It is with a heart filled with gratefulness that I announce the end of my playing career,” he twitted.
Ba started his career at FC Rouen a French side in 2005 where he scored 22 goals in 26 appearances. A year later, he later joined Royal excelsior Mouscron a Belgian club and scored 8 times in 12 games for the club. He later joined a Germany side Hoffenheim and scored 37 goals in 97 appearances.
His premiere league career started in 2011 where played for West ham, Newcastle and Chelsea scoring a total of 50 goals in 99 games.
Ba also played for a Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua in 2018-2019 and Swiss side Lugano in 2021 before he retired.
