Uganda Civil Aviation Authority on Entebbe International Airport and Extorsion
This morning, the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, released a statement on the ongoing allegations of extortion of funds following the videos circulating on social media.
For a while now, travellers have made short video clips exposing staff at the airport extorting money from them as they process their travel plans. According to the UCAA, such a habit is unacceptable and calls for the termination of one’s contract. In the same statement, they assured the public that the airport is mounted with cameras and has not witnessed such activities before, although they call for proof of activities to be availed by the public.
In the statement, they also attest that the videos circulating might be scams since the same incident has happened before and no evidence was availed, but however, they urge the public to resist giving money to anyone while at the airport.
